Sioux City to Join Cities Nationwide for America's national Night Out Against Crime
Sioux City to Join Cities Nationwide for America’s National Night Out Against Crime The Sioux City Neighborhood Network invites residents to come out and join us for National Night 7Out Tuesday, August 3, 2010. From 6PM to 8:00PM, we are asking residents in neighborhoods throughout Sioux City to lock their doors, turn on their outside lights, and spend the evening outside with their neighbors and representatives of City Police and Fire Departments.
National Night Out is designed to: • Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness • Generate support for, and participation in, local anti-crime efforts • Strengthen Police and community partnerships and promote Neighborhood spirit • Send a message to criminals letting them know neighborhoods are organized and fighting back
The following Sioux City neighborhoods will be hosting a variety of activities for children that will include hot dogs and drinks at the following locations: Cook Park: Swimming pool, Police and fire, face painting, information booths, & music. 400 W. 6th Street (hosted by the Westside Neighborhood Coalition)
Grandma Moos Park: Police & Fire Dept. come out & reconnect with friends & neighbors. 3rd & Cecelia Streets (hosted by the Greenville Project Area Committee)
Leeds Pool: Swimming pool, Police & Fire Dept. 41st & Tyler Streets (hosted by the Leeds Community Club)
Riverside Lutheran Church: Kids Games, Water games, Bingo for the adults. 1817 Riverside Blvd. (hosted by the Riverside Neighborhood Coalition)
Mid-Town Community Center: Police & Fire Dept., Clowns, Games, & information booths. 14th & Nebraska Streets (hosted by the Rose Hill & Jones St Neighborhood Coalitions) For more information on National Night Out, residents may contact Sioux City’s Neighborhood Network President, Bill Himes at #712-574-0182.
