Siouxland Sports Medicine Foundation Set to Again be Title Sponsor for NAIA Volleyball Championship in 2010 The Sioux City Sports Authority and Events and Facilities Board are pleased to announce the Siouxland Sports Medicine Foundation (SSMF) will once again be the title sponsor for the 2010 National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) National Volleyball Championship later this year. The event will be held November 30 – December 4 at the Tyson Events Center/Gateway Arena.
“We are excited to partner once again with the NAIA and Sioux City for this year’s Volleyball Championship,” said Kevin Negaard, Director of Sports Medicine Services for SSMF. “The SSMF, CNOS, and the Siouxland Surgery Center had a positive experience last year and believe this event is a positive platform to enhance the mission of the SSMF.” “This event has a great benefit for the community and we take great pride in being involved in this kind of partnership,” added Negaard. Sioux City will welcome 24 teams for a pool play to quarterfinal single elimination bracket championship tournament. The NAIA Volleyball Championship Presented by the SSMF will have 12 opening round matches across the country with the winners advancing to the final site in Sioux City, Iowa.
“Having a title sponsor like the SSMF is crucial to the success of the event,” said Corey Westra, NAIA Volleyball Co-Tournament Director and President of the Sioux City Sports Authority. “They help us promote and grow the tournament and their participation is a catalyst for other businesses to become involved with this great event.” “Again it shows the tremendous community support we have for the NAIA here in Sioux City,” added Westra. SSMF also provides all athletic training and orthopedic surgery care for the NAIA Volleyball and Basketball Championships in Sioux City. Sioux City has the contract with the NAIA to host the Volleyball Championship through 2012. Sioux City will host the NAIA Division II Women’s Basketball Championship, Presented by State Farm Insurance, for a 14th time March 9-15, 2011. Basketball is under contract through 2012.
