Half of the Teams Set For NAIA National Volleyball Championship in Sioux City, Opening Round Matches This Saturday
The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has officially released the opening round matches for the 30th Annual NAIA Volleyball National Championship. The top 11 teams will receive a bye, while the next 24 teams will play in the opening round matches on Nov. 21. All matches will be played at on-campus sites.
The winners of the National Championship Opening Round matches, in addition to host school Morningside (Iowa), will advance to the Tyson Events Center/Gateway Arena in Sioux City, Iowa, location of the NAIA National Championship presented by Siouxland Sports Medicine Foundation Dec. 1 - 5.
The following teams have received an opening round bye and will advance to the final site in Sioux City: Azusa Pacific University (Calif.), Biola University (Calif.), California Baptist University, College of Idaho, Columbia College (Mo.), Concordia University (Calif.), Fresno Pacific University (Calif.), Georgetown College (Ky.), Northwestern College (Iowa), University of Texas at Brownsville and Vanguard University (Calif.).
The final 24 teams will be placed into six pools and will play a round robin pool play Dec. 2-4, with the top two teams from each pool advancing to the single elimination bracket starting Dec. 4. The championship match will take place at 8 p.m. (CST) on Dec. 5.
Final site pool assignments and schedule will be announced by on Nov. 22 by 6 p.m. (CST).

The winners of the above matches advance to Sioux City

On Monday, November 23, there will be a Draw Luncheon at the Sioux City Convention Center for the Team Sponsors as an opening event for the National Championship.
Qualifying Teams will begin arriving in Sioux City on Saturday, November 28, and will practice on Sunday, November 29 and Monday, November 30 at the Tyson Events Center and Long Lines Family Recreation Center.
The Tachikara Banquet of Champions Presented by Primebank will be Monday evening, November 30, at 6:30 PM at the Sioux City Convention Center.
First matches for the Tournament begin at 1PM on Tuesday, December 1, at the Tyson Events Center.
